Hey I’m Jake Girolami, a Kalamazoo based photographer and filmmaker.
I don’t think there are right and wrong ways to do photography as a craft. I do it the way I want to.

Through analog photography, I love exploring different ways to represent nature, and humanity’s relationship to our environment, especially with such a literal art form. I’m working to be more and more intentional when shooting and presenting my work, and learning to push further and further beyond just snapping a photo.
I make b&w prints in my home darkroom, and I love the hands-on and tangible nature of analog photos. While you can find me at art fairs around Michigan a couple times a year, I also spend a lot of time just making photos and art with my friends and community.
I enjoyed my TV production classes in high school, and studied audio production at Middle Tennessee State University. I went to Brazil on a film/video study abroad, where I fell in love with filmmaking and cameras, which eventually led me into photography.
